Last week, KAGC hosted KAGC U: So Cal, a regional meeting with college students from throughout Southern California in collaboration with Southern California Korean College Student Association, UCLA KASA, and USC KASA.

Throughout the week, the Korean American students ran voter registration drives on campus and also assisted with 120+ first-time voter registrations and resolved hundreds of voting-related inquiries. For their civic engagement initiatives on campus, the 15 student organizations of SCKCSA were awarded a certificate of commendation from Representative Ed Royce (R, CA-39) and Representative Karen Bass (D, CA-37).

On Saturday, we also hosted a small conference at USC on the importance of civic engagement as Korean American college students. We were joined by the offices of Representative Ed Royce and Congressmember Karen Bass, as well as Councilmember David E. Ryu. (The first Korean American to be elected into the position in Los Angeles, Councilmember Ryu also served as the president of UCLA Korean Student Association in the past.)

We thank the students for their hard work and speakers for joining us. Our special thanks to Samsung, a proud sponsor of KAGC U, for their support for our work to empower the Korean American college students in becoming civic leaders on campus throughout the country.

KAGC looks forward to welcoming all passionate students to the first-ever national conference for Korean American students, the 2016 KAGC U in Washington, D.C. to be held on July 6th through 8th. Visit https://KAGC.us/ufor more information!
