It is with a heavy heart that we at KAGC share the sad news of Councilman Michael Yun‘s passing on April 6th, 2020. Due to complications related to COVID-19, the Councilman’s years of public service came to an end at the age of 65.
Councilman Yun was first elected to the City Council in Jersey City in 2013 to represent Ward D, a part of the city he had called home since 1981. As a young immigrant, he built a livelihood on a small business with an ever-trying spirit and big smiles to all those around him. As an elected official, Councilman Yun was known for his no-nonsense approach to policy and for his signature bow tie.
Since before his election to office, Councilman Yun had been one of the trailblazers, always at the forefront of advocating for our community in northern Jersey and beyond. We send our deepest condolences to his surviving family and all those who mourn his legacy. His dedication to working for the community members on the grassroots, across the party line and beyond cultural backgrounds, will be remembered fondly.
