The voice of the grassroots


Since 2015, KAGC has hosted 37 regional seminars, mobilizing 3,500 grassroots participants across the nation. These seminars helped local community partners develop and implement civic education and voter registration programs, as well as better coordinate the Korean American community’s advocacy efforts on the national level.

September 21, 2024

KAGC hosted a regional seminar with the Korea Corner at Montgomery, a partner organization of KAGC. Our Executive Director Mr. Song discussed the issues that Korean Americans must consider while living in the United States, emphasizing the importance of civic engagement.
A subsequent presentation was given by Ju Eun Park, External Affairs Associate at KAGC, about the various KAGC programs that the community can get involved to promote civic participation. Additionally, KAGC provided a briefing on Korean American policy priorities.

KAGC hosted a workshop on the Korean American identity at New York University. Under its college program KAGC U, 40 students from across NYC, including midshipmen from the U.S. Naval Academy, participated in a lecture on the history of the Korean American community, panel discussion with civic role models, and a group discussion on their experience as children of immigrants and as a minority.

Hosted in collaboration with the Korean American Federation of Orange County, this year’s regional seminar served as a platform for discussion on the U.S.-South Korea alliance, promoting peace on the Korean Peninsula, and how to support  diverse Korean American communities.

With the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles, KAGC hosted its local seminar in the area sharing an analysis of the Korean American electorate in Southern California to the policy priorities of our community, from the Korean American history to the roles of various levels of government, a wide range of topics was covered in relation to the current issues in the local community.

KAGC hosted its seventh KAGC local seminar in Seattle, WA, in collaboration with our partner organization Korean American Coalition – Washington. Throughout the two days of the seminar, over 90 community members in all age groups and professions including elected officials, community leaders and students attended.

Hosted in collaboration with Korean American Civic Empowerment and Leadership in Houston, this year’s regional conference included a discussion on the changing landscape in Washington, D.C., the importance of civic engagement by our community, our analysis of the Korean American electorate in Texas, as well as the recent events surrounding language minorities’ access to poll sites in the state.
